Repairs Offered

What kind of Repairs Will be Offered at the September 27, 2025 Café?

We plan to offer the following repairs. Please check back closer to the event for the most accurate information. For some repairs there is only one Repairer and if they are unable to make it, we cannot offer that type of repair.

The Repairers tackle simple repairs that can be done in 20 minutes or so. You can watch while your item is repaired or possibly assist with the repair.

BIKE REPAIR

We will offer simple bike repairs, such as; safety checks, simple brake and derailleur adjustments, flat tire repair, basic wheel tuning, tightening loose parts and consultation/advice.

CERAMICS REPAIR

CHAIR CANING DEMONSTRATION & CONSULT

Watch and try your hand at caning a chair. Bring a caned item for advice on what type of work it needs and where to get it repaired.

ELECTRONICS

Members of the Newburyport High School Tech Club will provide tech support for electronic items, such as laptops, mobile phones and tablets. Support may involve brief diagnostic troubleshooting and quick fixes for hardware and software issues.

KNIFE SHARPENING

The knife sharpening station is a very popular one, so expect a wait for this service. Garden tool sharpening will not be offered at this Café.

LAMP REPAIR

Bringing a table lamp for repair at Repair Cafe NBPT Fall 2025? Our Repairers suggest you pick up and bring this kit along as it includes common items used in lamp repair. You can find it at the local hardware store, a big box hardware store or online.

TEXTILE REPAIR
Split seams, patches, buttons, etc. We will NOT be offering heavy-duty textile repair at this Café (e.g. tents, canvas, outdoor equipment)

STUFFED ANIMAL REPAIR

SMALL APPLIANCES

Fixing small appliances is challenge especially those newer ones with sealed casings which makes it difficult to access the inner workings. We’ll do our best.
